How to Up Your Candle Game in 2020

There are several things you can do to improve your experience with candles this year. Some of these changes involve choosing a high-quality brand, while others are based more on how you treat your candles. To help you out, we’ve come up with a list of five simple ways you can up your candle game in 2020!

STEP 1 – CHOOSE A BRAND THAT GIVES BACK.

It’s 2020 – if your favorite brands don’t give back, it might be time to explore some other options. Ultimately, in this day and age, brands have an ethical obligation to do right by the planet, their customers, and their employees. The world hunger crisis, and specifically how it impacts children across the globe, is an issue that’s close to our hearts. STEP 2 – MAKE QUALITY A PRIORITY.

At Bridgewater, quality is always top of mind for us. Unlike other home fragrance companies, all Bridgewater fragrances are made in house by our very own fragrance team. This means the candles are poured in the same facility where the fragrances are created. Because of this, we can guarantee that our home-grown fragrances are sure to set your home apart!

In terms of materials, all our candles are made in the USA using a soy-blend wax. This type of wax holds a greater fragrance load than traditional candles, which means you’ll get to enjoy even more throw from your favorite Bridgewater fragrances. In addition, all our candles are manufactured using cotton or paper wicks that are free of lead and zinc. This ensures a safe, clean burn every time. All the glass we use has passed rigorous 3rd party ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) safety testing. And, while we do use a blend of natural and synthetic ingredients, all our fragrance ingredients adhere to strict safety standards set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). So, you can rest assured that our candles are safe to use.

STEP 3 – GET YOUR BURN GAME RIGHT.

Did you know there’s a correct way to burn a candle? Believe it or not, some of our own team members had no clue until they started working here! There are five main things you need to remember:

  1. Trim your wick to ¼ of an inch every time you burn it
  2. Let your candle pool all the way across before blowing it out
  3. Keep your candle on a level surface so the wax remains even
  4. Stop burning when you have ½ an inch of wax left
  5. Repurpose or recycle your container when done
