World Hunger – still a problem in 2021!
3 million! That’s the number of children that die from hunger every year – can you imagine? Statistics like this touch us deeply which is why we hold onto our mission to fight world hunger for more than 11 years now.
More than just candles
In 2010 we thought that making and selling fragrant quality candles is nice, but we want to do more! We want to make a change in this world with what we do. Of course with Bridgewater Candles create cosy homes and cause happy smiles all over the world when they are lit, but our goal was to make an impact that goes much further! We wanted to use what we do to help fight hunger all over the world.
Feeding kids around the globe
So what did we do? Fighting hunger means providing meals! And not only one meal, but we wanted to fill the belly of a kid for a whole day. So we decided that for every Bridgewater Candle we want to donate 3 meals for a child in need. We teamed up with our great partner Rice Bowls, a non-profit organization that helps us get food to orphaned kids all over the world. They provide food budget for orphanages across the globe and do a really great job! The food that they provide for the kids is locally sourced, nutritious and of course delicious!
What you can do to help?
It might sound too good to be true, but really all you need to do is buy and enjoy our scented candles. All our jar candles (small and large), as well as our Sweet Grace and Afternoon Retreat Collection Candles are our so called “products that feed”. When you buy a candle for you or your friends and family, 3 meals automatically go to a child in need. We take care of that! And while you light your candle at home, somewhere in the world there is a kid that you make extremely happy. That’s also why we call our charity programme “Light A Candle – Feed A Child”. So far we were able to donate more than 11 million meals. Our next step is to reach 20 million meals! Are you in?

Who are the kids?
Ricebowls supports kids all over the world, for example in Honduras, India, Phillippines, South Africa or Haiti. In 58 loving children’s homes they provide 100% of the food for the children in their care. Here you can read the stories about some of the awesome children they support. On our candles you will find tags that introduce you to some of the kids that we support together with Rice Bowls.
